Donny was supposed to record the theme song for the 1972 movie, "Ben", about a lonely little boy who befriends a rat, Ben, who just happens to head up a vicious pack of killer rats. Due to previous commitments, Donny was unable to record it, and so the tune went to Donny's contemporary, Michael Jackson. Jackson went on to make it a top seller.
Donny can't read music. When writing a song, he sings into a cassette recorder and plays it on the keyboards.
The beautiful song "Make It Last Forever" from Donny's album "Eyes Don't Lie" was originally concieved to be a duet.

Donny used to believe that Ozzy Osbourne really did bite the heads off bats. By the way... regarding Ozzy's bat biting, there was an occasion where he did actually bite a real bat. Kids would throw rubber ones up to him all the time from the audience, and once they actually threw up a live one. Not realizing this and thinking it was fake, he bit it's head off. He went through a series of rabies injections afterward, and hasn't bitten a single one since, to my knowledge.
Speaking of Ozzy... I'm told that he's related to the Osmonds down the line, on their father's side. If anyone can confirm that this is true or not true please let me know.
